Google Expands Access and Features for Earth AI, Boosting Environmental and Disaster Response Work
October 23, 2025 — Google makes updates to Earth AI. The tool helps cities, nonprofits, and businesses meet global challenges. It joins world models with Google DeepMind’s Gemini AI. Earth AI binds geospatial data. This bound data gives fast insights on weather, disasters, and health issues.
A key update adds Geospatial Reasoning. Gemini runs the tool. It links Earth AI models such as weather data, satellite images, and maps of people. The link brings related words close. Users see whole events, paths, and risks as one view.
In a storm, the tool shows where winds hit. It shows which communities face risk and which roads may break. That view helps groups like GiveDirectly send aid fast. The tool displays flood and people data side by side.
Google asks groups to sign up as Trusted Testers of Geospatial Reasoning. Testers find support for nonprofits via Google.org and free-access plans.
Google uses Gemini AI to change how Earth shows data. New AI models let users ask questions and get fast answers by using satellite data.
Water teams now see where rivers dry up. They get early hints of dust storms when drought comes. Experts also spot algae blooms in water. That spot helps send alerts or shut off water to keep people safe.
This test feature comes soon in the U.S. for Google Earth Professional and Advanced users. Also, AI Pro and Ultra users in the U.S. get Gemini help right away with higher limits.
Google lets teams use Earth AI models through Google Cloud. Teams get picture, population, and environment models. Trusted Testers mix their own data with Google’s data to build answers for topics like saving nature or handling crises.
Many groups use Earth AI now:
• The WHO Regional Office in Africa uses Earth AI’s population and environment data to guess cholera risk in Congo. That work helps plan water fixes and vaccine drives.
• Picture makers like Planet and Airbus run Earth AI on daily images. Planet spots forest loss, and Airbus checks plants near power lines to keep them safe.
• Alphabet’s project Bellwether works with McGill and Partners to view hurricane risks. That work speeds up claims and helps homeowners get back on track.
Google works on Earth AI to see the real world with care. The tool works with data the way large models work with words. These moves help teams work on health, crises, and nature by using fast data to guard lives.
